A Nielsen study suggests that there has been over a 300 percent increase in online video watching since 2003. Further, most watching is done during work hours. Workplace computers are often muted or have no speakers.

Several billions of videos are watched monthly worldwide, with many of them in different languages.

Apertium translation platform

Apertium is a free/open-source machine translation platform.

It is possible to use Apertium to build machine translation systems for a variety of language pairs; to that end, Apertium uses simple XML-based standard formats to encode the linguistic data needed (either by hand or by converting existing data), which are compiled using the provided tools into the high-speed formats used by the engine.

The Apertium architecture is being developed by the Transducens research group at the Departament de Llenguatges i Sistemes Informàtics of the Universitat d'Alacant in collaboration with Prompsit Language Engineering.

The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games events to be held in Vancouver include curling, figure skating, ice hockey, sledge hockey, short-track speed skating and wheelchair curling.
Speed skating will take place in Richmond, while the snowboard and freestyle skiing events will be hosted at Cypress Mountain in the District of West Vancouver. The Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony, will be staged indoors at BC Place in Vancouver city centre.
