R&D Investment Scoreboard

The 2008 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard presents information on 2000 companies from around the world reporting major investments in R&D.

European (8.8%) companies outpace American (8.6%) counterparts in R&D investment growth for the first time. The world's biggest investor in R&D in 2008 is Microsoft, with €5.6 billion. the first EU company is Nokia, in 5th place, with an R&D investment of €5.3 billion.

The pharmaceuticals & biotechnology sector reinforced its top position, accounting for more than 19 % of the R&D investments made by all Scoreboard companies together.
